9:30am 10 degrees. One trip around Forest Park starting and ending at the South Zoo Entrance + 2 miles out and back (down and up Skinker Hill). Overall I felt good, but the cold contributed to some knee stiffness. (pace was just a touch over 7:30s.)

15 miles in 1:54:00. 3pm run and 50 degrees. Very hilly course out lockwood turning into Adams to Manchester. Manchester back to Brentwood to Marshall. Knees and hips sore, but negative 5 mile splits run: 39 minutes, 38 minutes, 37 minutes.

Am: 9:15 and 40 degrees. 50 minutes at Castlewood Park. Up and down hills, over tree roots, stones, etc. Brutal and hilly trail run. Time for the run is near 8:00s, but the workload is anything but easy.

 

PM: 5 miles in 35 minutes -- 3.5 mile slightly below 7s, 1.5 miles slightly above 7 for an average of 7s.

12:30pm and 50 degrees. 16 miler today on Grants Trail. The trail is flat as a pancake for its entire length.  1st 7 miles @ 7:40 average, next 4.5 miles @ 7:05 average. Last 4.5 at 7:45 average. I took 1 Gu at the 7 mile mark during this run and the 7:05 pace felt very comfortable in the beginning. I held this pace for 6 miles and then slammed into a wall where I backed down to maybe a 8:30 mile for a couple miles, but was able to focus my finishing mile back to 7:30. I had planned on the water fountains being accessible during the run, but they were off so I had no access to water during this run. I should also have taken a 2nd Gu at the 12 or 13 mile mark.

Went to take an advil this morning and took a Lunesta by mistake! Called in to work and I won't be going in. Sleepy time. As an aside, I worked until 1am last night and was supposed to work at 8am this morning. Took a Lunesta to help me sleep .... so this accidental Lunesta makes 2 inside of 8 hours.

7 miles at 7:30s. Pace seems difficult to maintain. Both hams are strained and my lungs are shot (See note on Wednesday about Lunesta -- As an aside, I'm quitting this stuff cold turkey. One of the side effects indicates that it causes shortness of breath! WTH?)

4:45pm, 30 degrees. 6 mile M-pace run. Same soreness kicked in in the hams at the 4 mile mark. This time it was only in the back of the left knee/ham though. I ran through it to test it and it did seem to loosen a bit by the end, but I will have to take some more time off.

6 mile trail run with over 2 miles of serious hillage, 2 miles flat and 2 miles slow winding downhill. Loose stones, tree roots, leaves, etc. Your basic mud and guts trail run. Followed by a 2 mile cool down trail run, first 1/3 up hill, 2nd 3rd flat, 3rd 3rd downhill.  6 mile run was a 23:45 1st lap (3 miles) and a 24:15 second lap. 50 degrees, sunny, perfect.
